Things will be getting crazy in my house for the next two months. I'll be filling in at a preschool doing the therapies while the SLPs there are doing the preschool screenings. It'll only be two days a week but along with EI 3 days a week. It might be hectic. I'm so lucky to have my boyfriend's Aunt with our little guy while I work. It'll be interesting to get my feet wet in a school. It's nice it's only part-time and only for a short time. I'll hate leaving my little guy. It's nice to see him between sessions and at lunch while I work from home. I don't want to push off doing lessons with him completely because new things keep him interested and playing. When he gets bored with the same old thing he begins to throw things and just make messes instead of playing with the items. So I will keep with my rotation of toys and books to go with our themes, keeping his favorites as well.
April Showers bring May Flowers. We're doing Spring in April but you could easily do it in May. Honestly, some spring might bleed into May a little too especially since I'll be out of the house so much. We will have some special days but will be using some things for the whole month.
Sensory bins-
Edible dirt- which is just flour and oil mixed with some brown food coloring.
Paper Easter basket grass- I just got a bag of shredded colored paper meant for an Easter basket filler. If you've seen my Instagram we already started playing with it.

Easter
Since Easter will be at the end of week 1, we will be doing Easter activities this week. We'll play with Easter eggs, hiding items in them, and work "open, in, out." I'll hide them (Really just put them around where they can easily be seen) to practice for the Easter Egg Hunt on Easter.
Sensory bin- Our sensory bin will have the shredded paper for an Easter basket in it. In it will be bunnies, eggs, carrots. We'll hide and find them. We'll count them. Even though counting isn't something we'll focus too hard on, for older kids it can be a good skill to work on. For my toddler, we'll really focus on having fun and exploring our new sensory bin filler.
Gardening
The 14th is National Gardening Day so in week 2 we will do gardening. We'll go for walks on nice days to see if people's flowers are blooming yet. We will check out the garden center to see the flowers and plants but with the weather, we've been having we actually won't be getting any plants until Week 4. We have a Field Trip/Play Date planned for the Arboretum to see how all those gardens are starting the grow. Since I'll be working at the school we'll have to do it on the weekend with Dad instead of with our friends like we usually do.
Sensory bin- We'll use the edible dirt and I got some cheap fake flowers from the dollar store, along with some I already have. We got an adorable garden set from the Target dollar spot (I posted it on my Instagram and Facebook). So we'll use the tool that came in there and the flowers. We will match the flowers and explore the edible dirt.
Bugs
I think part of spring is getting outside and seeing bugs. Week 3 theme will be bugs. So we'll try to spend more time outside. We'll of course read books with bugs in them. One of my favorites in The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
Sensory bin- We'll use edible dirt again. I'm using bugs from this pack I have already. I also picked up a bug-catching kit from Target Dollar spot. It has great sensory bin tools. I don't plan on catching any real bugs in it but these fake ones will be great.

Spring
Week 4 will just be Spring, we will do a mix with the gardening stuff and bug stuff. Again getting outside when possible. Always talking about what Spring things we see like the flowers and bugs. My little guy is a little young for walks in the rain, he doesn't have rain boots or a raincoat yet but maybe for a little older kids and adventurous parents playing in the rain would be a fun Spring-April Showers type of activity.
You can find me on Instagram and Facebook at SassySpeechy to see more pictures of the activities in action.
